Introduction.

The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) is a federal parliamentary republic consisting of 9 regional states and 2 city administrations. The federal government is responsible for matters of national interest, such as foreign policy, defense, and currency, while the regional states are responsible for local matters, such as education, healthcare, and agriculture.

The Oromia Regional State is the largest and most populous region in Ethiopia. It is home to the Oromo people, the largest ethnic group in the country. The Oromia Regional State government has its own constitution, which is consistent with the FDRE Constitution.

  • Judicial branch: The judicial branch is headed by the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has the final say on all legal matters in Ethiopia.

Oromia Regional State Government

The Oromia Regional State government structure is similar way to the FDRE government.

  • Executive branch: The executive branch is headed by the President of the Oromia Regional State, who is elected by the Oromia Regional State Council, the lower house of the Oromia Regional State Parliament.
  • Legislative branch: The legislative branch of the Oromia Regional State government consists of two houses: the Oromia Regional State Council and the Oromia Regional State House of the Federation. The Oromia Regional State Council has 547 members, who are elected by popular vote.
  • The Oromia Regional State House of the Federation has 112 members, who are appoint by the Oromia Regional State Council.
  • Judicial branch: The judicial branch of the Oromia Regional State government is head by the Oromia Regional State Supreme Court. The Oromia Regional State Supreme Court has the final say on all legal matters in the Oromia region.

Relationship Between the FDRE and Oromia Regional State Governments.

The FDRE and Oromia Regional State governments have a cooperative relationship. The two governments work together to promote the development of Ethiopia and to ensure the well-being of all Ethiopians.

The FDRE Constitution establishes a number of mechanisms for cooperation between the federal government and the regional states.
